the call
São Paulo has more than 300 hidden rivers.
There is a hidden river not further than 200 meters away from you anywhere in the city you are. The same situation happens in most cities of Brazil and Latin America.
the mission
Blue City calls schools to discover what river is flowing underneath them.
And what is discovering a hidden river?
It is to be aware
that it exists
It is to honor
its existence
It is to spread
the news!
nature-based learning
Blue City proposes learning based on nature and through real experiences
We invite schools to align their disciplines to our mission
We want to unite theory, practice and purpose
Let's understand the geography of rivers
Let's tell the history of rivers
Let's honor rivers through art
Let's transform the gaze over rivers by creating new narratives
Let's change the future of rivers designing innovative solutions
first step: to discover the river
Let’s walk around the street to discover where the river flows in the real world, even if it is buried. There are tips to be followed, like relief and vegetation. Oh! And it is important to find out which microbasin it belogns to.
second step: to honor the river
The second step is to bring the river to surface, on people’s hearts. Let’s pay homage to the river, through art, and invite the community to meet the new (or perhaps old) member.
developing communities
After discovering the river and its microbasin, it's time to invite the neighborhood to meet it.
Let's prepare an event that gathers art, music, takls and an expedition, of course, but this time inviting parents, relatives and neighbors to come together.
By the way, did you know that a microbasin is like a neighborhood?
A microbain is an area delimited by water splitters (spikes), drained by a river or a creek, through where the rainwater flows.
third step: to spread the news
The third step is to tell as many people as possible that the river exists. Let’s do it creating videos that tell the history of the river and show the event, and after let’s share videos in our social media. The more people know, the more chances the river has to really be reborn!
creating new narrativas
We live in a time where it is essential to create and spread new narratives
Narratives that will transform reality
Up to 2020, 80% of internet traffic will be done through videos
It is important this knowledge exchange to be done with relevant and well structured content
By creating audiovisual narratives we learn how to;
Structure the thinking
Think out of the box
Write
Rush the aesthetic sense
Change the look on the world
Team work, in a collaborative way
